About Me
Change is hard. It’s easier when you have help. Therapy is a lot more than sitting in a room and talking. It takes courage, and it takes stamina, and it takes patience. I frequently have new clients tell me that after their sessions they are exhausted. What that tells me, is that they are doing the hard work it takes to grow, change, and feel better.
Think about the sore muscles and time it takes when you are becoming stronger through exercise. In therapy you are working different muscles. You are regulating emotions, developing insight and self-awareness, learning about boundaries, identifying problematic patterns in relationships, building positive new coping strategies.
If you are ready to make the commitment, I am ready to help you. In our first few sessions I will ask a lot of questions about your life experiences, current struggles, and goals. We will create a treatment plan and start to figure out ways to achieve your treatment objectives. I will use interventions and theory from different modalities depending on your interest and needs. For instance, we might explore connections between thoughts, feelings and behaviors, discuss how your life choices align with your values, explore your feelings through a poem, or practice grounding exercises by turning to nature. One thing I will consistently do is look for the balance between supporting you and pushing you to take the necessary steps to grow. It isn’t going to be easy, but it will be worth it.
I am trained in counseling, ecotherapy, creative arts therapies, and working with survivors of sexual abuse and assault. I have a lot of tools and education at my disposal. Let’s find something that works for you.
